The Gogogate2 is not compatible with the sensors of the Gogogate1, and the other way around.

2 people found this faq useful.

Except in the USA*, a sensor is not needed in order to use the Gogogate2 device. However, if you do not have a sensor, you will not be able to know if a garage door is open/closed, receive status/temperature alerts or trace garage activity in a built-in calendar.

The Gogogate Team strongly recommends getting a compatible sensor to fully enjoy the Gogogate2.

*Gogogate2 is compliant with UL325 regulations. See legal notice: Please make sure your garage door is closed before you start installation. The Gogogate product and our door sensors are meant to be used with garage door openers equipped with photoelectric safety sensors (manufactured after 1993). These sensors are normally found at the bottom of your garage door and avoid accidental closing of your garage door if an object or person is on the path of the door.

In case you have an old door opener and requires to have the wall button pushed for more than one second in order to close the door, then it would be necessary to use the ON/OFF mode to close the door. Here is how the configuration would need to be:

Here is how the configuration would look like. This door would have two operating modes, the Garage mode that will open, and the ON/OFF that would close the door.

Here is how the App would look like. This is the first door (connections 1&2) already configured and the one that would only open the door.

Here is how the App would look like. This is the second door (connections 3&4) that would only close the door.

In this example, with only one Gogogate2 and only one door, the connections for the second door (3&4, the one with the ON/OFF mode) would be the same as the 1&2 terminals are connected to.

In case you have more than 2 door and you need this functionality then please do not hesitate to contact us at support@gogogate.com and we would do our best to provide the best and simplest solution.

If you have tried this and your door still does not close, it could be due to a different closing connection in the door motor. Please do not hesitate to contact us at support@gogogate.com for us to send the proper wiring instructions.

The Outdoor iSmartGate Cam does not have a LED to let you know if it is ON or OFF.

After a Reset, or just to check if it is still working:

A way to know if it is ON is to try to make it as darker as possible for the night vision to turn on automatically. If you put your hand on the camera's objective you will hear a click sound and the LED will turn red, just as this picture:

  1. Choose your model, this option for the Indoor camera.
  1. This case for the Outdoor camera.
  1. Enter the IP from the instructions above and the login and password used to configure the iSmartGate Cam

Then the camera should be working. In case you want the IP not to change and not have to do this every time, then follow the instructions below:

  1. Connect to the camera's configuration page from your computer. Use the IP and port known from before and introduce it into the browser, this will be the outcome:
  1. From the browser page please login with your user and password set in the configuration of the camera.
  1. Please select the option Network --> IP Configuration:
  1. Then, please disable the checkbox: Obtain IP from DHCP:

Now the IP shown there will be the IP for the camera, and that will not change.

The indoor camera, the one that comes with the ultimate garage kit, is compatible with Dropbox.

When it senses a movement or sound, it takes pictures until the movement or sound has stoped. You will receive a notification (if activated on the iSmartGate cam App) that a suspicious movement has been made and the pictures will be automatically stored in a folder on Dropbox.

Please note that the latest firmware of the camera needs to be installed. The latest application firmware should be 2.82.2.31. In case you do not have this firmware installed please contact us at support@gogogate.com and we will provide the firmware and the instructions to upgrade it.

To be able to enable the storage in Dropbox please connect to the camera through your computer with one of the two options below (Please make sure that the Computer and phone are connected to the same Wi-Fi you want the camera to be connected to):

  1. If you are trying to configure your camera for the first time and it does not complete the Wi-Fi configuration (for example, gets stuck at 30%):

First, make sure that the camera is properly reset. If it is an Indoor camera press the Reset button at the back until the camera says: Ready for Wi-Fi configuration. In case it is an Outdoor camera press the Reset button on one of the wires connected for at least 20 seconds.

If reseting did not fix the issue the problem may be caused by a Firewall on the Wi-Fi network. Here are the instructions to workaround this problem:

Connect the Ethernet cable directly to the camera and to the router, or the extender power line adapter (Ethernet via power line). And then create a user and password for the camera to be able to access it from the computer.

Once connected to the network, please connect to the camera through your computer with one of the two options below (Please make sure that the Computer and phone are connected to the same Wi-Fi you want the camera to be connected to):

  1. You can connect to the Camera with your computer by executing the Search Tools software provided in the CD that comes with the camera, or from the instructions here, and select your camera by double clicking in it's IP (identifier unique number for the camera). From the browser page please login with your user and password set in the configuration of the camera:

Select the option Network --> Wireless Settings and configure your Wi-Fi:

Please make sure it is a 2.4GHz network.

Your Gogogate2 is trying to connect to the old Wi-Fi network (corresponding to old router).

SOLUTION 1:
Change the settings of your new router (Name and password of Wi-Fi network) to match those of the old router. Your Gogogate2 will connect automatically.

SOLUTION 2:
Do a RESET to the Gogogate2 device by pressing the reset button on the device until it beeps 2-3 times. Note that all data previously stored in the device (users, alerts, events) will be removed.

Once the device restarts (approx. 2 minutes after pressing the reset button), you will need to re-program your Gogogate2 device. Instructions here: Setup .

Please Reset the Gogogate2 after plugging in the new USB Wi-Fi. Press the black button on top of the Gogogate2 until it beeps 2-3 times, then wait until the green light is blinking and setup.

In case the GoGoGate Wi-Fi does not appear please disable your Mobile data (4G) or even turn off and on your phone. If it does not show, then the issue could be the Gogogate2.

If the Gogogate2 is still under warranty we would replace the whole unit, otherwise, please register here for a 15% discount.

The Gogogate2 is compatible with the connection via Ethernet with an adapter.

Here is an example of an adapter that would work.

It would be necessary to replace the USB Wi-Fi with the Ethernet adapter. After plugging it in, please reset the Gogogate2 by pressing the black button on top until it beeps 2-3 times. Then wait until the Green light is blinking and setup (instead of choosing Wi-Fi choose Ethernet)

In case you are planing to place the Gogogate2 outside to control a Gate, there are a few things to keep in mind:

First of all, the Gogogate2 is not waterproof, it can be placed inside a gate’s control box or inside a waterproof box like this one.

In case the WiFi signal in the gate box is not strong enough, there are a few options:

Solution 1:

You can replace the default USB WiFi adapter for this one.

And if this is not enough, you can try to replace the antenna (not the USB adapter only the antenna), for this one.

(Or for any USB Wi-Fi you want that has the Chipset RT5370)

Solution 2:

You could try to use a power line adapter (Ethernet via power line) and create an access point inside/close to your Gogogate2. For example, this one.

Solution 3:

You could place a 4G Router near the Gogogate2 to give it access to the internet. For example, this one.

Please find below a schematic of how the 4G Router would provide internet to the Gogogate2:
